My Story
Terrel White (he/him/his) was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and is currently the Director of Advancement at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Prior to his current role, he has worked across the country with different institutions of higher education and nonprofits, in multiple facets of development and fundraising. He is also the founder and lead consultant at Werq Consulting; the agency specializes in organizational dynamics, fund development, emotional intelligence, and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Services. Outside of work, Terrel is an avid traveler, concert-goer, and baker. Since moving to Virginia, he has also found an appreciation for vineyards. He is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Rotary Club.
He holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California as a macro practitioner, focusing on social change, innovation, and policy advocacy; a Master’s degree in Administration with a concentration in nonprofit administration and philanthropy from Central Michigan University; and a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Wayne State University.
